It’s International Dark Sky week – the week dedicated to pointing out the problems caused by light pollution and to getting away from said pollution and look at the wonders of a start-filled night sky.
There’s gathering evidence that all the light we have around us at night changes the environment of nocturnal animals. It may even be throwing human sleep patterns off.
It also makes astronomy that much tougher. The more light pollution, the harder it is not telescopes to see what’s up there. It’s why telescopes are now built in such remote places.
