The Women’s Business Council, an arm of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, holds a series of workshops to help employers build and improve their skills to motivate employees and co-workers.

The first workshop, Employee Engagement, looks at strategies that the business on the “100 Best Places to Work” list use to attract and retain high performance employees and achieve increased productivity.

More than half of U.S. workers (62%) plan to look for a new job in the next year; among Gen Y workers (19-30), the percentage is 66% according to a global workforce survey by Kelly Services

Turnover costs, including productivity losses during training, recruiting and lost work while a position is vacant, amounts to 20% of an employee’s annual salary, per the Center for American Progress.

Mary Beth Nelsen, President of The Right Resource and presenter of the workshop, will cover key engagement factors, senior management’s role, identifying, reinforcing and rewarding critical employee behaviors and other related topics at the workshop.

The second session will feature Susan Anderheggen, President of The Anderheggen Group, who will discuss how  to improve  leadership capabilities and how you can increase your Influence by improving the way you communicate.

She said  that a good leader paints a vision for a journey and has a strategy to get there. “ But, leadership is a two way street and it’s the people you work with who will make the decision every day whether or not to follow you.”

Both workshops will take place from 12-1:30pm at the Danbury Chamber office, located at 39 West Street, and will include lunch with the $20 fee.

The Employee Engagement workshop is May 13. The Instant Leadership workshop is June 10.

For more information and to register call the Chamber at 203-743-5565.
