The AmeriCorps Collegiate Development Program working alongside The Hispanic Center of Greater Danbury will sponsor a walk to promote awareness about bullying at Rogers Park Middle School on 21 Memorial Dr. in Danbury May 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The mission for the walk is to give the community an opportunity to work together to help youth see that bullying is a paramount problem that deserves to be addressed.
The event is dedicated to teaching the significance of leaving behind the ‘bystander’ role and embracing the ‘upstander role and honors The Bully Project.
The walk will provide residents with education pieces regarding bullying from student members of clubs at Western Connecticut State University.
In addition, there will be a health fair attended by local businesses and groups including the Family & Children’s Aid, Doctor’s Express, Connecticut Sports Arena, and Alzheimer’s Association.
Music will be provided by local music producer DJ Sebas and the first hundred participants will receive BULLY walk shirts sponsored by Elmer Palma, the owner of Elmer’s Diner and the new upcoming restaurant, The Waterfall Restaurant.
The BULLY Project is the social action campaign inspired by the award-winning film BULLY. Their goal is to reach 10 million kids or more, causing a tipping point that ends bullying in America.
