Maybe it’s because Mother’s Day is this weekend, but it seems to me it will be another weekend full of activities from which people in the area will get to choose.
There will be a book signing at Morningstar Books, 72 Newtown Road in Danbury, Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bryan Holmes of Watertown and Maggie McSpedon of Ridgefield will be signing their new book, “The Vine and the Branches: How to Spiritually Connect in a Challenging World.”
In addition to being “a wonderful go-to guide” on spirituality (according to at least one review of it), buying this book also may help you feel good because the authors will be donating the royalties in May to the Association of Religious Communities in Danbury. (Visit www.arcforpeace.org for info about ARC)
Later on, the Danbury Concert Chorus and Danbury Symphony Orchestra, along with soloists Sharla Nafziger (soprano); Barbara Rearick (mezzo), James Ruff (tenor), and Jonathan Woody (baritone), will present a Beethoven concert at the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Ave. in Danbury, at 8 p.m. You can enjoy great music for free!
Those are just a couple of the things on the list of what to do this coming weekend. There will be plenty of flower sales and Mother’s Day brunches to help make the weekend special. Check your Pulse and Diversion sections, as well as tomorrow’s edition of Go, to find even more things with which to occupy yourself this spring!
