Longtime Danbury residents Ann and Ed Wicks, now of South Carolina, are seen at their recent going-away party at Two-Steps Downtown Grille in Danbury, where more than 50 people gathered to wish them well.
Ed Wicks, far right, is a retired luthier who once played a crucial role in the mystery of a famous Stradivarius violin. Wicks repaired and rescued the violin after it was stolen; it’s now owned by virtuoso Joshua Bell.
Sitting with Wicks, left to right, are Ann Wicks, Cynthia Williams of Visiting Angels, and Aaron Wakely of Shelton. Wicks repaired Wakely’s cello, which began their friendship.
Ed Wicks is also known for his famous chestnut soup recipe, which he has often shared with News-Times readers around Thanksgiving.
