RIDGEFIELD– Because of the expected impact from Tropical Storm Arthur, Friday’s holiday fireworks at Ridgefield High School have been postponed, Ridgefield’s Family Fourth Committee announced Wednesday.
“All of the weather forecasts predict heavy rain that day,” said committee spokesman Tom O’Grady. “And even if we cleared the grounds during the day, it wouldn’t be dry enough for people to sit and enjoy themselves.”
The fireworks will now take place at the high school July 12, which O’Grady said was the soonest possible make-up date because of the committee’s contract with the fireworks company. Becuase of the large number of other area towns cancelling their shows, the company needed until Saturday to schedule a legal shooter tfor the fireworks. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Saturday and fireworks will start around 9:30 p.m.
Those who purchased a $15 parking pass for Friday can return it at the location they bought it at to receive a refund.
