The cause of a fire that burned down two cabins at Club GetAway in Kent last Thursday has been released.
According to the Kent Fire Marshal, Stan Macmillan, the fire was accidental. And was caused by an over heating of a propane heater near the cabin.
There were seven people in the first cabin when the fire broke out, a counselor and mid-teen campers. All were safely evacuated and no one was injured during the fire.
Eric Epstein, Kent Volunteer Fire Dept. Chief, said the fire at Club GetAway was in small camp cabins clustered close together. One cabin was completely destroyed, a second had heavy damage with minor damage to the siding on a third building.
The fire was under control with 30 minutes of the 7:48 a.m. emergency call. Many local fire departments responded to the fire along with the Kent Fire Department.
The damaged cabin has been disposed of and reconstruction is being planned, said Macmillian.
