For the second time in two weeks, Newtown Interim Schools Superintendent John Reed is reaching out to parents and staff to keep them apprised of public dissemination of information related to the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting tragedy that he believes could prove an “emotional trigger.”
On Wednesday at 2 p.m., the emergency 911 tapes from the Police Department are scheduled to be released.
“I want you to have the opportunity to think about what steps, if any, you may wish to take to minimize media exposure for you and your family,” Reed wrote in his letter. “I expect significant media coverage through Thursday. Like you, I have not listened to the tapes but I suspect for many persons the tapes will be an emotional trigger. I remain confident that by supporting one another with love and understanding we will continue to move forward as a school system and community.”
Any families or children who may need special help are recommended to reach out to school resources or the district’s Recovery Project Director David Jacob at 203-426-7622.
