Lisa Lind-Larsen, 75, of Packer Brook, was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals weeks after the seizure of two Mustangs from her property.

Complaints against Lind-Larsen started in 2011 after her two mustangs were seen looking emaciated and unhealthy. Investigations found no evidence of neglect, until more pictures of the horses were given to authorities this spring.
Redding Police and state animal control officers searched the property on July 10. Authorities found the mustangs living in unsanitary stalls lined with several inches of manure, unclean water and were extremely underweight, with their ribs, hip bones, and spinal bones prominent, police said.
The horses were taken and are recovering at the Dept. of Agriculture’s Large Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Facility in Niantic.
Lind-Larsen turned herself in to Redding police last week when she learned of a warrant for her arrest. She was released on a promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on August 20.
