Officials with the Bethel Police Department said late Tuesday that a New Milford man has been arrested in connection to the fatal bicycle accident last month.
Alexander Scott Lee, 21, of New Milford, is facing numerous charges including evading responsibility of a fatal accident, making an improper left turn and tampering with evidence for the Oct. 20 accident that took the life of Weston bicyclist Thomas Steinert-Threlkeld.
The crash occurred when Lee allegedly turned his car turned from Route 302 onto Old Hawleyville Road as Steinert-Threlkeld approached on Route 302 from the opposite direction.
Steinert-Threlkeld collided with the rear passenger side area of the vehicle, and the impact threw him to the ground moments before a second vehicle turned onto Route 302 from Old Hawleyville Road, striking him and pinning him underneath. He had to be extricated by firefighters.
Police allege that Steinert-Threlkeld left the scene of the accident shortly after the collision.
Lee, who was arrested Tuesday at his job in Brookfield, was held on a $150,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court on Dec. 4.
