Danbury will have its third “Mayor’s Citizens Government Academy” from Sept. 8 to Nov. 3. Applications for the eight-week program are available by clicking HERE. They are due Sept. 2.
The free program will familiarize citizens with Danbury’s government and encourage them to become involved with community activities. Limited to 30 students, the class will meet once a week for two hours, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., for eight weeks.
The meeting locations vary during the course. The academy is open to Danbury residents and property owners over 18 years old.
It is a great way to learn about local government directly from the people running it. Those who attend should keep in mind that Mayor Boughton, a former teacher, is likely to take attendance at the beginning of class.
