3 drug arrests in Newtown

NEWTOWN — Three local men are facing possession of narcotics charges in Newtown.

Timothy Wheeler, 23, of Washington Avenue, Newtown was arrested Aug. 12 and Daniel Jerry Sheets, 21, of Mohawk Trail, Sandy Hook was arrested Aug. 14 when police stopped vehicles matching the description of possible vehicles bringing drugs into the area, police said.

Both drivers were stopped for traveling too fast for conditions. Both Wheeler and Sheets tried to hide narcotics when stopped and police began their investigation, according to police reports.

Wheeler was charged with traveling too fast for conditions, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and interfering with a police officer. He was released on $5,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 26 in Superior Court in Danbury.

Sheets was charged with traveling too fast for road conditions, driving a motor vehicle with a suspended drivers license, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. He was released on $5,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 26 in Superior Court in Danbury.

Also arrested on Aug. 12 was Zachary Danz, 29, of Paugussett Road, Newtown on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance/more than 4 ounces of marijuana. Danz was released on an unspecified bond with a court date of Aug. 26 in Superior Court in Danbury.
