The Brookfield Board of Education will have its first meeting tonight since the election that saw re-election of Republican incumbent Harry Shaker and election of two newcomers, Republican Steve Harding and A Brookfield Party candidate Greg Beck. The board meets in the Brookfield High School library at 7 p.m.
Beck engendered some public wrath over a Facebook comment he posted about tributes related to the anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy. He apologized for the remarks, but there have been some who have asked that he resign his post. He has rejected that idea.
A t this meeting, the board will be electing officers, assigning subcommittees and discussing the recent budget roudtable results, a class size survey and other routine business. Schools Superintendent Tony Bivona is scheduled to make his budget presentation to the board on Dec. 18.
