The death of 15-month-old Benjamin Seitz has been ruled a homicide by the medical examiner’s office.
The cause of death was due to hyperthermia because of environmental exposure, but further details would not be released.
It is not immediately clear whether charges will be filed against the boy’s father. Both the Ridgefield police and Stephen J. Sedensky III, State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Danbury, have not issued any comments on pending charges.
Seitz was left in the car July 7 when his father, Kyle Seitz, went to work. After finding the child in the hot car, the father drove the child to Danbury Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.
Capt. Jeff Kreitz told the News-Times the department’s detective division commander was meeting with state’s attorney just before 1 p.m. Thursday to discuss any possible charges.
More information to come.
