Ridgefield and Redding were deemed as two of the safest towns in Connecticut by Safe Choice.

Safe Choice Security consulted the 2012 FBI Crime Statistics report to get the information on the 20 safest cities to live in Connecticut. The list was meant to help residents know where to look for a first home or business location.

Ridgefield tops the list at number one with a 96 percent crime index. According to Safe Choice, the town has an emergency alert system and a detailed emergency preparedness plan.

Redding comes in at number six on the list with a 90 percent crime index. It has also ranked in the top five of small towns to live with its low crime rate and proximity to New York City.
