A Danbury hair salon was raided Tuesday when its owner was arrested for using the business to sell drugs out of, police said.
Mohamed Coats, 38, has been charge with a variety of drug felonies after his store, Konnecticut Hair Design on Ives Street, was searched by police.
The Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division had been surveying the store for months after a resident complained about drugs being sold from the salon.
During surveillance, known drug users would enter and leave withing minutes of arrival, police said. As a result a search warrant was issued on the property.
Police found Coats to be in possession of narcotics packaged for sale in his salon. Coats was arrested and held on $5,000 bond.
