Working Families Party endorses Dan Smolnik for 107th District

smolnik The Connecticut Working Families Party is announcing its nomination of Dan Smolnik, a  Democrat, for state representative in the  in the 107th district, which includes Brookfield and parts of Bethel and Danbury.

 Smolnik, a local attorney and member of the local Democratic Party and a former chairman, is challenging veteran Republican incumbent David Scribner for the seat.

 

“It’s a new day for Connecticut and for this District. Brookfield, Bethel and Danbury can now have a real voice in the capitol. I am ready to fight for the people who live here and not simply do as I’m instructed by some political committee,” Smolnik said after his nomination.

 

The Working Families Party is fighting for an economy that works for everyone, not just the super wealthy. The party focuses on economic justice issues like raising the minimum wage, creating good jobs with fair pay and quality benefits, finding solutions to the student debt crisis, and ensuring that all workers can retire with financial security and dignity Smolnik is standing up for these principles, a party news release states.

The nomination comes with the grassroots support of the Working Families Party, its formidable door-to-door voter mobilization program, and placement of the candidate’s name on the Working Families Party ballot line, Row C.

 “I urge the voters, no matter what your party label, to get out and vote and make a difference.” “This community is about its residents, and it’s time they have a representative who answers to the voters” he said.
