As summer transitions into fall, the New England leaves turn from green to brown; the temperatures cool to the more temperate climate, and the seasonal worry of suffering bee stings shifts to tick bites.
And that means the annual debate over where –and if- Ridgefield’s annual controlled town deer hunt should be held.
This year’s hunt, scheduled to beginOctober 15 and last through the end of January, includes 11 town-owned properties submitted by the town Deer Management Committee approved by the town Conservation Commission. The number of sites fluctuates each year, depending on where the heaviest populations lie.
By a 4-1 vote, the 2014 sites were approved by the Board of Selectmen Tuesday night.
