Metro-North says Danbury branch service is now operating on or close to schedule.

Danbury Branch southbound service is currently experiencing delays of 30-35 minutes. Danbury Branch northbound service is currently experiencing delays of 10-15 minutes.
Here’s Metro-North’s explanation of what happened:
Train 1819, the 6:08 a.m. departure out of Danbury due Grand Central at 8:08 a.m., became disabled south of Wilton with a mechanical problem with its traction motor.
The train was terminated at Wilton, and customers transferred to the following train, #1831, the 6:45 a.m. departure out of Danbury due Grand Central at 8:47 a.m.
The train was cleared to a siding by 7:30 a.m., but the incident created some congestion on the branch for train #1806, the 7:43 a.m. departure out of South Norwalk, due Danbury at 8:43.
That train was delayed about 20 minutes while waiting for southbound trains to clear the tracks ahead.
UPDATE: 8:23 AM.
It’s gotten worse …
Danbury Branch northbound customers should anticipate delays of up to 60 minutes due to an earlier train with mechanical issues. .
