Blind pedestrian hit by Honda in Danbury

DANBURY — A 21 year old local woman has been charged with evading responsibility and failure to yield the right of way to a blind pedestrian.

Stacie Quinones, of Irving Place, Danbury turned herself into police Friday about 11:30 p.m. after the Danbury Police Department received a report of a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of North Street and Barnum court that occurred at about 10:21 p.m., police said.

Jairo Abreu, 22, of Danbury, was standing at the intersection when she was struck by a silver Honda traveling northbound on North Street, according to police.

Abreu was transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision, police said.

Quinones was charged with evading responsibility; failure to yield right of way to a blind pedestrian, operating a motor vehicle with registration or license suspended and criminal violation of a protective order.

Quinones was released on $1,000 bond with a court date Monday in Superior Court in Danbury.
