A Ridgefield man was fatally struck by two cars while walking on an interstate in Nashville, TN Sunday morning.
Lt. James Garvey, 24, was hit at 3:45 a.m. when a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Alexander Morris, 25, of Antioch, TN was driving east when he struck Garvey, police said.
It is unclear if he was crossing or walking along an interstate near Nashville International Airport.
Morris said that he was unable to avoid Garvey, who was struck by a second car moments later, police said. The second car left the scene before police could arrive.
Tennessee police are searching for the driver of the second car, which is believed to be a grey Nissan Xterra. Witnesses reported seeing a white man with grey hair standing outside the car on the shoulder of where Garvey was hit.
Police are still investigating the accident and it is unknown why Garvey was in the roadway.
