It was another good week for Danbury 12-year-old Adaiah Stevens, who advanced to the final six on the Fox reality competition “MasterChef, Junior.” The poised Stevens is one of the frontrunner on this season of the series,  in which 16 cooks age 8 to 13 compete for $100,000 and the title of best young home cook in the country.

On this week’s episode, which aired Tuesday, Stevens and the other chefs were asked to cook as many sunny-side-up eggs as possible in a short period of time. The number of eggs they cooked determined how many ingredients they could use in their next challenge. Stevens only cooked four eggs, but still managed to wow the judges with an elegant rack of lamb dish. She easily advanced to the next round.

Her fellow Nutmegger Oona Yaffe of New Haven had a more challenging week. The 9-year-old overcooked some of the scallops in her dish, and ended as a candidate for elimination for the second week in a row. However, she narrowly avoided being sent home. Instead, the judges eliminated Levi — an accomplished cook who had seemed like a frontrunner in the past two weeks — and the long-haired, raspy voiced Josh.

Stay tuned next week to see how Connecticut’s young chefs fare as the competition heats up.
