A New Fairfield man was issued a ticket by State Police after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing into a highway median.
Early Sunday night, Elliott Grom, 23, was driving in the left lane of I-84 Eastbound near Exit 4, when he fell asleep causing his car to drift to the left, police said.
Grom hit the concrete median barrier, police said. The crash woke him up and Grom swerved his car across the highway and drove up an embankment off the right side of the highway. The car rolled onto its roof and landed in the right lane of the highway.
The car had damage to its left and right side, as well as its roof, police said. Grom, however, was not injured and refused to be taken to Danbury Hospital.
Grom was issued a ticket for failure to drive in the established lane.
