Newtown Police accreditation Jan. 23

NEWTOWN — Newtown residents are invited to offer comments on the policies and procedures of the Newtown Police Department for an assessment of the department by the Police Officers Standards and Training Council.

A team from the Council will be in Newtown at the department Jan. 23 to examine its policies and procedures as they relate to Tier 1 of the state accreditation standards. The Newtown Police Department has held Tier 1 accreditation since 2005 and is seeking reaccreditation a third time.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employers and members of the community are invited to offer comments. Comments can be mailed to William Tanner, POSTC Accreditation Division, 285 Preston Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450 or by telephone at 203-427-2602 or by fax at 203-238-6643. Emailed comments should be sent to Accreditation.Compliance@ct.gov.
