More than 240 people gathered at the Amber Room Colonnade for the Danbury Museum and Historical Society’s first Hat City Ball.
The Danbury Museum and Historical Society launched a new annual event Friday night to celebrate the city’s history while drawing support for its programs.
The Hat City Ball, which is inspired by the recently-extinct Mayor’s Ball, brought more than 240 guests to the Amber Room Colonnade for cocktails, dinner, auctions and music.
“The museum is absolutely thrilled that we had such a great response from the Danbury community,” Executive Director Brigid Guertin said.
The museum not only reached, but it exceeded its goal of raising $25,000, according to Paul Valeri, a member of the museum and historical society’s board of trustees.
“We do this to preserve out past, reflect on the present and help build a better future,” Guertin told the crowd. “Your support helps us today and tomorrow. We cannot thank you enough.”
The fancy-dress ball is expected to become the museum’s major fundraising event.
