No emergency calls or power outages were reported during the overnight hours of the snow storm in Bethel, First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker said Tuesday morning.

According to the latest National Weather Service report, Bethel has seen 5 inches of snow since the storm began Monday afternoon.

“So far so good,” he said in an email, noting that the storm turned out to be “mostly a bust” in this area. “The highway crews have been at the town garage all night, more or less waiting for something to happen.”

The crews made sure all town roads were opened up at about 4 a.m., Knickerbocker said, and today they will keep roads from getting slippery until the remaining snow is over.

Not more than a few additional inches of snow are expected to fall in Bethel today, but strong winds will blow snow around and keep conditions slick.

The town’s public schools and municipal center are closed Tuesday.
