Police are still investigating the apparent suicide of a man in the Danbury Fair mall last weekend.
The 50-year-old Danbury man stabbed himself inside a Sears bathroom Saturday afternoon, police said. His name still has not been released but police said the man was not an employee of the store.
The investigation is open pending final results from the autopsy report. Police are also reviewing surveillance footage to determine how long the man was in the restroom.
Police said the bathrooms were closed for the investigation that afternoon, but Sears remained open.
Maura Ruby, the mall’s senior property manager, said Danbury Fair has been cooperating with the investigation but it would not release any information. A Sears spokesman did not immediately return a call for comment Wednesday afternoon.
