UPDATE: A New Milford woman died at Danbury Hospital as a result of a multi-vehicle accident that closed Route 25 for several hours Monday morning, police said.
Police identified the victim as Erin Morrarty, 31.
A total of four cars were involved in the accident, which was triggered when a Chevy van that had stopped for a school bus was rear-ended by another vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, approximately 200 feet north of Farview Road just after 8:10 a.m.
The first two vehicles pulled to the side of the road, and Morrarty sideswiped the Corolla, damaging a mirror. She parked and walked back to exchange information with the driver when a Jeep Cherokee operated by Ryan Derrrig, 24, of Brookfield, hit the rear of the Corolla and pinned her between the two vehicles, police said.
Preliminary investigation indicated that glare from the early morning sun may have blinded the drivers, police said.
