A Danbury man was charged with assault, after punching a man who interrupted his street hockey game.
On Tuesday night, Danbury police were sent to the Price Rite on Main Street for reports of an assault. When officers arrived, they found Gregory Nelson, 29, screaming and yelling derogatory statements at the victim in the Price Rite parking lot, police said.
A witness told officers that Nelson was playing street hockey in the parking lot, when the victim parked his car in the lot and got out of his car, police said. Nelson started screaming at the victim, telling him to move his car and then attacked him and started punching him several times.
As officer tried to talk to the victim, Nelson continued to scream and yell at officers, police said.
Nelson was then arrested and charged with third-degree assault, breach of peach and intimidation based on bigotry and biased. He is being held on a $1,000 bond. No court date has been set.
