Kent teacher charged with threatening a 17-year-old

A spokesman for the private boarding school where police said a teacher threatened a teenager this month has released the following statement:

“On February 2 there was an incident at South Kent School,” Gonzalo Garcia-Pedroso wrote. “The School promptly reviewed the circumstances, and referred the matter to the Connecticut State Police. Please be assured that the School has taken, and will continue to take, appropriate actions to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on campus.”

Garcia-Pedroso could not confirm whether the victim was a student. He also did not know if the teacher has been suspended.

KENT — A teacher at South Kent School has been charged with threatening a 17-year-old juvenile during an incident on Feb. 2.

Loren Sanborn, 33, of South Kent, turned himself into State Police on Wednesday morning after learning their was a warrant out for his arrest, police said.

Sanborn was charged with breach of peace and threatening. He was released on a $1,000 bond an will appear in Bantam Court on Mar. 2.

The details of the threat have not been released.
