The editors of Scholastic News just announced their list of the 8 Coolest Kids We Met in 2013.
Vlad Romano from Redding made the list!
The list is a roundup of the most inspiring, courageous, and innovative kids featured in the magazines this year.
Their stories were published in Scholastic News – Grade 3, Junior Scholastic, Science World, The New York Times Upfront, Storyworks, and Choices.
Vlad, 10, took a scary ride in an ambulance as a young child, but was comforted when someone handed him a teddy bear to hold on to.
Now he is dedicated to helping other kids in emergency situations.
Vlad buys teddy bears for local fire departments to give to the kids they help, using money he earns from lemonade and apple cider stands that he sets up in his hometown.
He has donated more than 400 bears to date!
