BETHEL – Eversource Energy has begun making repairs to underground cables in Bethel, which could slow down traffic on Route 58 through the end of April.
The company, formerly known as Connecticut Light & Power, is replacing a section of underground electric cables on Putnam Park Road, known as Route 58, near the intersection of Hoyts Hill Road.
During the work, a section of the northbound lane on that road will be closed temporarily, according to a media advisory. Police will be directing drivers around the construction site.
Electric service to customers will not be affected, an Eversource official said.
Most construction activity will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., but some aspects of the repair may take place after regular business hours “in order to complete the work in a timely manner,” the statement reads.
