DANBURY — The Danbury police and fire departments named a new deputy police chief, a detective, three new sergeants and a fire drill master during a joint ceremony at City Hall Thursday afternoon.
Lt. Shaun McColgan, a 25-year veteran of the police department, was appointed the new deputy chief.
The three police officers promoted to police sergeants were Steve Castrovinci, Matthew Georgoulis and Matthew Casazza. All three joined the department in 2006.
Another officer, Thomas Collins, was named a police detective.
At the fire department, Communications Coordinator Steven Rogers was promoted to the position of drill master. Rogers joined the department as a firefighter in 1999 and was promoted to dispatcher in 2001. He had been in his current role since 2014.
McColgan was first promoted in 1998 to become sergeant and youth bureau supervisor. He was named lieutenant in 2000.
“Throughout his accomplished career, he has served the department and community with integrity and dedication as demonstrated through his many promotions and involvement within the department,” Mayor Mark Boughton said during the ceremony.
McColgan replaces Terry Shanahan, who retired from the position last year.
