RIDGEFIELD – The mother of the Ridgefield toddler who died after her husband left him in a hot car all day made a successful appeal for leniency to the judge who was deciding her husband’s sentence on Thursday.

“I ask that you look at my husband sitting before you,” reads the statement of Lindsey Rogers-Seitz. “I fell in love with this man the first moment I met him, and that is my message today – one of love, understanding and compassion.”

Her husband, Kyle Seitz, who faced a year in jail on a criminally negligent homicide charge, was freed Thursday by Superior Court Judge Kevin Russo.

The judge said the man had suffered enough.

Rogers-Seitz posted her statement to the judge as well as her reflections about her husband’s arrest on her blog, The Gift of Ben.
