NEWTOWN — Newtown Police and Fire Marshal are seeking public assistance in an investigation into a fire on Tauton Lake Road.
On April 13 about 9:50 p.m. a neighbor to 52 Tauton Lake Road called 911 with the report of smell of smoke. Newtown Hook & Ladder responded and smoke was seen coming from the home at that address. Entry was made and the fire extinguished.
The home was under renovation and unoccupied. The investigation showed that the fire was intentionally started, police said.

The state offers a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest, conviction or prevention of arson fires.
