The Redding Board of Finance has given its budget proposal for the 2015-16 fiscal year, and it includes a year-to-year decrease in the education budget of $96,502.
The town Board of Education proposed no increase from this year, but the Board of Finance, citing declining enrollment, decided to reduce the figure.
Next year’s budget, which accounts for Redding Elementary and John Read Middle, will be $21.3 million.
The Redding portion of the budget for Joel Barlow High will increase nearly $57,000 to $12.3 million, but that budget, which is under Region 9 parameters, is voted on separately because it also includes Easton.
The town Selectmen budget will go up $370,000 from this year to $14.2 million.
