NEW MILFORD — A New York man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court  in White Plains, NY, to selling heroin laced with fentanyl to a New Milford woman that lead to her death.

Dennis Sica, of Hopewell Junction, pleaded guilty to one-count of conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl resulting in death. Dutchess County prosecutors said Sica and others sold the potent heroin last year in bags stamped with the brand name “Breaking Bad.”

On Feb. 1, 2014, Laura Brown, 35, was found dead in her New Milford apartment’s bathroom with three needles, two measuring spoons and six empty glassine bags, among them several marked “Breaking Bad,” according to the DEA arrest warrant affidavit for Sica .

The Connecticut Office of Chief Medical Examiner report on Brown’s autopsy concluded that she died from “acute heroin and fentanyl intoxication,” the arrest warrant states.

Sica’s guilty plea included the deaths of two others from heroin/fentanyl overdose: Anthony Deilllo, 20, of Beekman, NY  and Thomas Mile, 31, of Pawling, NY.

Sica’s charge carries a minimum 20 year sentence and a maximum life sentence.
