NEW MILFORD — A unique farm stand and farm products shop has opened in the Gaylordsville section of New Milford.
The Village Farm, 648 Kent Road (Route 7 north), is the latest endeavor of Lise Goedewaagen.
Pottery mugs, tea pots, woven baskets and bees wax candles are among the offerings in the gift shop. Fresh eggs from Goedewaagen’s own hens, vegetable and flowering plants, and and bread from a New Preston baker compliment the offerings.
“We’re going 100 percent local and 100 percent organic,” Goedewaagen said. “As crops come in, we’ll offer organic vegetables. As a farm stand business status, we carry farm produce and products from local farms, which means farms in Connecticut and Putnam County, New York.”
Goedewaagen spent 30 years catering and owned Food For Thought in New Milford from 1987 to 1995. When she sold the restaurant, she returned to school earning a master gardener status and a certificate in landscape design.
She ran Outdoor Environments, a landscaping business, for 15 years. Her love for gardening won out and last weekend she opened The Village Garden, open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to dark.
