Sherman voters approved the $14.4 million school and town budget for the upcoming fiscal year during Saturday’s referendum.
The municipality’s $5.1 million portion of the budget passed 305 to 269.
The school’s $9.3 million portion of the budget passed 346 to 228.
The combined budget has $328,000 more than the current budget, which is a 2.3 percent increase. Nearly 25 percent of the budget is related to debt service.
This means the tax would be about $2,000 on every $100,000 of assessed value, which is an increase of $20.
Voters also approved appropriating up to $20,000 for general repairs to Happy Acres Farm with a 414 to 159 vote.
A proposed ordinance about septic tank management was rejected with 250 yes votes and 308 no votes.
