As expected, the town and municipal budgets passed Tuesday in Ridgefield, and as expected, turnout at Yanity Gymnasium continued a stark downturn that began in 2010.
The town budget passed 1,427-217, while the school budget was approved 1,311-334, which First Selectman Rudy Marconi said is reflective of town officials putting forth a responsible budget.
But a result of that, he said, is voter apathy. And the 1,654 voters among 16,339 registered to do so represents just north of 10 percent who filled out a ballot.
