Erin O’Rourke of the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association was named “Outstanding Clinician of the Year” by the Visiting Nurse Associations of American in April, and was awarded by the Connecticut General Assembly last Thursday.
O’Rourke, a Ridgefield resident, has been a home care nurse case manager with the RVNA for six years. She treats patients in Ridgefield, Redding, Wilton and surrounding towns. She came to the RVNA after three years as a nurse at Greenwich Hospital and is working toward a certification in diabetes care.
She was invited to Hartford by State Senator Toni Boucher (R-Wilton), and family and friends joined her in the Senate Chamber.
“Erin O’Rourke is an angel to the patients she takes care of,” Boucher said. “She is a professional and gives of herself in every way so that her patient’s quality of life is the best it can be. It was a great privilege to have members of the general assembly honor her.”
Added Representative John Frey (R-Ridgefield), who is a former member of the RVNA Board of Directors: “Erin said she didn’t become a nurse for the limelight, but her award is extremely well deserved. It’s one of the most prestigious visiting nurse awards in the country.”
