DANBURY — A 31-year-old city man is facing assault charges after reportedly slashing a man who owed him money during an argument Thursday night.

Oscar Giovanni Reyes, of Spring Street, Danbury was arrested Thursday about 10 p.m. at his home where police found him after responding to a call about a stabbing victim.

Reyes had gone to the victim’s home off of Stadley Rough Road Thursday night to collect money owed him from landscaping work, police said. An argument ensured and escalated into a fight. Reyes pulled out a knife and slashed the victim across his abdomen, police said.

A third party drove the victim to Danbury Hospital where he was operated on Thursday night with what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury, police said. The victim’s name was not released.

Reyes was held on charges of second-degree assault, breach of peace, carrying a dangerous weapon, and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.
