BETHEL — Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a two-story home on the corner of Mansfield Street and Fleetwood Avenue Sunday afternoon.
Fire Marshal Thomas Galliford said the investigation is still ongoing but it appears that a discarded cigarette ignited the fire inside a trash can.
There was some damage to the rear of the house but the family did not have to leave the building, he said.
No one was injured.
