DANBURY – Two young men are facing felony charges after they robbed and assaulted two people who were walking home from a downtown restaurant early Monday morning, police said.

One of the victims told police he was walking with a friend on Liberty Street at about 2 a.m. when two men came up to them and demanded their money and cell phone, according to the report.

Police said the robbers then began kicking and punching the victims before walking away with the stolen items.

Officers found the suspects minutes after the incident and took them into custody. The two victims refused medical treatment, police said.

Kenneth Rios, 18, and Anthony Rios-Soto, 19, were charged with criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary.

Rios-Soto was also charged with third-degree assault.

Police said the two accused robbers are related and live together on Hospital Avenue in Danbury, but it’s not clear what their relationship is.

They were each held on a $10,000 bond but were released after their arraignment in Superior Court. They’re scheduled to return to court on June 17.
