UPDATE: JUNE 2: 2:53 p.m. New Milford Fire Marshal Karen Facey said the fire at 35 McNulty Drive Tuesday morning burned some of the kitchen, where it started, and the rest of the house sustained heavy smoke damage.
The fire call came in at 9:02 a.m. and Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2 firefighters were quickly on the scene, Facey said. No one was at home, however, several dogs and cats were in the house. At least one dog and two cats died. There were seven dogs in the house and a number of cats, all of which are at veterinarian’s in Washington and New Milford.
The house is listed on Vision Appraisal as being owned by John Kuck IV, of New Preston. The phone listing for the McNulty Road address is under Steven and Cheryl Podyma. A facebook site, “Because 4 PAWS – Animal Rescue,” posted that temporary homes are needed for the remaining animals. It reads that the rescue group’s director lost his home to the fire and people who can take in dogs or cats rescued from the fire are asked to call 860-942-7930.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Face said.

There was a house fire on McNulty Drive in New Milford Tuesday morning, police said.
No people were in the house, but there were a few animals inside when police arrived at the scene.
No further information was available.
