The Long Journey Home of Albert Afraid of Hawk will be presented July 2 at 7 p.m. at the Brookfield Library.
Dr. Nicholas Bellantoni, the Connecticut State Archaeologist, will present the history of Albert, a Sioux Indian from South Dakota, who was performing with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show touring New England in 1900 when the performer came down with food poisoning from a tainted can of corn.

Albert died at the age of 20 in Danbury Hospital and was buried in an unmarked grave in Wooster Cemetery.

Learn how a local historian, Bob Young, located the burial card and helped the family of Albert Afraid of Hawk make his long journey home to South Dakota.
This is an adult program also recommended for ages 10-plus.
There is no charge but registration is suggested at www.brookfieldlibrary.org, at the library or call 203-775-6241.

Learn here about Albert’s journey from Danbury to South Dakota last August.
