If you like travel and being outdoors, you may be interested to find out more about the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club. There is a Fairfield County group that periodically meets in either Bethel or Westport for speaker meetings to hear from adventure travelers and photographers.
At the next speaker meeting, photographer and world traveler David Roberts will make an audio-visual presentation, “Morocco – Sea to Sahara,” at The Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plain Road, Westport, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. Roberts will take you overland on a journey from the Atlantic coast of Morocco, to its “Imperial Cities” of Fez, Meknes, Rabat and Marrakech; to the top of Mount Tubkal, its highest mountain; to Roman ruins; to historic Kasbahs; and on to the Sand Sea of the Sahara.
Wine and appetizers will be from 6:15 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and presentation at 8 p.m. Both AMC members and non-members are welcome. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
Participants are asked to bring along a dessert to share if they can. No reservations are being taken, this event is “pay at door only.” For more information and directions go to www.ct-amc.org/CT/index.shtm or email Eleanor Sasso at easasso@optonline.net.
