Not only that, but the Kent museum will be open July 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Patriotic activity sheets will be available for children.
The bell ringing ceremony will be at 2 p.m.
Artist and author Eric Sloane believed church and public bells should ring for four minutes at 2 p.m. each July 4 to celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Each year, Sloane-Stanley Museum invites visitors to participate in this revival of a tradition as old as the nation.
The Eric Sloane Museum is at 31 Kent-Cornwall Rd (Route 7) in Kent, Conn., just north of the village of Kent and the intersection of Route 7 and 341. The museum is open Thursday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular admission: Adults $8, Senior Citizens, $6, Children 6 to 17, $5.
