The Danbury Education Foundation handed out $13,000 to seven schools for programs that will be used for everything from drumming to aerodynamics and robotics.

The Early Childhood Center received $1,500 for its “Drum to Learn Program.”
Broadview Middle School received $1,400 for “Using Technology to Improve Socialization.”

Danbury High School was awarded $1,300 for “Inspiring Student Design and Aerodynamic Science Solutions” in addition to $1,200 for an after-school program “Robots & Computers for Danbury LEGO Robotics Team.”
The high school also received $4,000 for “Creating a MakerSpace.”

Morris Street, Pembroke, Ellsworth, Park Avenue, Hayestown and Academy for International Studies elementary schools will share a $1,500 “Instrumental Music Grant.”
A supplemental grant of $2,000 was awarded to Pembroke for “Support of Nature’s Classroom Science Program.”

Started in 2002 by Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, the Danbury Education Foundation improves funding and support for education through grants and scholarships. It raises money for school programs outside of the regular school budget and takes applications from schools for needed items, such as field trips or equipment.

The grants will be awarded at the Feb. 12 Board of Education meeting.
