FAMILIES NETWORK of Western CT, Inc. has been awarded a grant for the organization’s parenting education program, “Parents as Teachers”.
The “Parents as Teachers” program provides new parents in-home assistance to meet the challenges of a new baby and helps young children grow up healthy, safe and ready to learn.

According to Susan Gigilo, Executive Director of FAMILIES NETWORK of Western CT, Inc. “The Parents as Teachers program is designed to provide new parents with the help they need to support their child’s growth and learning. The program helps reduce the stress of parenting and connects new parents to the resources they will need to become the best parents they can be.”

The Parents as Teachers program is available now to any parent living in Danbury with children up to age five, and there is no charge for the program.
Parents are encouraged to call FAMILIES NETWORK of Western CT, Inc. at 203-791-8773 or visit their Danbury office located at 5 Library Place.

The competitive grant comes through Danbury’s Promise for Children Partnership, a broad-based community partnership dedicated to improving the lives of Danbury’s young children and its funding came from a private foundation focused on increasing opportunities for success in children, especially those that are most at-risk.
Caroline LaFleur, Director of Danbury’s Promise for Children Partnership said many city children face challenges that prevent them from arriving at kindergarten ready to learn, especially those from low-income homes.
